Room 12 @ EPS 2022

Room 12 did an experiment with Room 13. Does ice melt faster in salt water or fresh water? The children each made predictions and then worked in groups to do the experiment. They observed what happened and there was lots of discussion about what was happening. Here are some photo's.

Room 12 were excited to begin their weekly swimming lessons at Lloyd Elsmore Pool.  It was wonderful seeing the children's positivity and trying their personal best.

Room 12 started Term 2 learning about ANZAC. We did a scavenger hunt. The children worked with a buddy to read information about ANZAC and complete a puzzle piece. They next coloured their puzzle pieces. We put the puzzle together and displayed it.

 During Sea Week Room 12 were learning about the importance of looking after the sea and sea creatures. They worked in groups to find out information about different sea creatures.  We then did some sea week art. First we dyed the our paper to resemble sea colours by blending different colours together. We then cut out silhouettes of different sea creatures and glued them onto our dyed background. Lastly we drew a dolphin silhouette and cut it out and glued it on. They look amazing in our class.

This week Room 12 did some amazing Acrostic poems.  We have been learning how interesting adjectives and language features helps to create a picture in the readers mind. They used  interesting adjectives and similes to describe themselves. They then illustrated them.  

Our Year 4's were so lucky to be given a Cricket Bat each by Auckland Cricket. They first personalised their own bats and then we went out to the field and the children learnt some new skills. They also had lots of fun.
